Sammie Whitlow Wilson, 92, of Briscoe, N.C., formerly of Lynchburg, died Thursday, December 26, 2002 after a brief illness. She was the widow of Carl Ward Wilson. Born May 18, 1910 in Brookneal, Va., she was the daughter of Cora Lee Francis and Charles Samuel Whitlow. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David F. Mathews; a sister, Lorene Whitlow Reed; and a brother, John S. Whitlow. She is survived by a son, Stuart D. Wilson and wife, Peggy of Richmond; a daughter, Barbara Mathews of Rockingham, N.C.; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, December 28, at Diuguid Rivermont Chapel, 846-2726. Visitation will be held Friday, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the chapel.
