Obituary
Aubrey Evelyn, age 77, died Thursday, February 5, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann A. Evelyn; three daughters, Leighann Quarles and her husband, Steve of Quinton, Frances Davidson and her husband, Dave of Suffolk, Patty Townsend and her husband, Will of New Kent; six grandchildren, Chris and Eric Quarles of Quinton, Jessica and Chase Davidson of Suffolk, and John and William Townsend of New Kent. He retired from U.S Tobacco Company after 14 years of service. Mr. Evelyn served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of VFW Post 11124. Mr. Evelyn is best remembered for his 22 years of service on the New Kent County School Board, during 12 of which he served as Chairman. His dedication to his wife, children, and grandchildren will always be remembered as providing him his greatest joys in life. The family will receive friends at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m, where funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Interment Bethany Presbyterian Church, Charles City. Memorial gifts may be made to the Providence Forge Fire and Rescue Co. 1 or to the Quinton Fire and Rescue Co. 2.
