JOHN ANDREW MAXWELL
John Andrew Maxwell, 79, a retired mail carrier, died unexpectedly at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday of a heart attack at his home, 2551 N. Broad St. He was a charter member of the Knox Count Farm Bureau and a former Presbyterian deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the Gideons
Surviving are his wife, two sons, Lt col. L. W. Maxwell in Korea and Dr. A E. Maxwell of Moville, Iowa; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia M. Green of Galesburg and three grandchildren. He was the last of six children in his family.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church by Rev. Kermit Petersen. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Kimber & West Chapel tonight between 7 and 9 o’clock.
Mr. Maxwell was born Ja. 8, 1875, at Prairie City and lived his entire life in the Galesburg vicinity. He attended Oneida public schools and Brown’s Business College. He married Amelia House at Fullerton, Calif., Sept. 14, 1912
