Ellen Lucille Tayman, 90, of Waldorf, formerly of Dillon Park, died Jan. 5, 2011, at Futurecare Pineview Nursing Center in Clinton.
Born Aug. 22, 1920, in Greenwich, Va., she was the daughter of the late William F. and Mary Reid Hoffman.
She was a hairdresser and homemaker. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, was an active member at Grace Brethren Church in Clinton and the 2-n-1 Club at the Clark Senior Center in La Plata. She enjoyed traveling with family, ceramics and crafts.
Her husband, William Roland Tayman, preceded her in death. He had owned/operated the Mobil Station on Branch Avenue until he retired in 1990.
She loved life and people. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Harold and wife, Patricia Tayman, JoAnn T. and husband, Douglas Lashley, and Sue E. and husband, Kenneth Tillett; her brother, Joseph Hoffman; her sister-in-law, Ruth Hoffman; her grandchildren, Allen and Richard Tayman, Mandy Stepp, and Timothy Tillett; and her great- grandchildren, Kendall, Connor, and Chloe Tayman and Timothy Tillett Jr.
A life celebration will be held today, Jan. 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Jan. 8, from noon to 2 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home in Charlotte Hall, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Irv Clark officiating.
Interment will take place Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 1 p.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham.
