Son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Burcham) Ballard. Beloved husband of Martha C. Rooker married June 23, 1840 and Sarah Shanafelt married December 15, 1842. Beloved father of Francis Marion Ballard, Martha Jane Ballard, John Dayton Ballard, Harriet Ellen Ballard and Carey Columbus Ballard. Asa Ballard was one of the earliest settlers of Mooresville, Indiana, where he ran a general store, Ballard & Dixon's. Died at the age of 66 years and 9 months, of typhoid fever. Death occurred at the home of his son Hadley, in Indianapolis.
