Services were conducted Jan. 6,1989, in Cypress, Texas, for Jesse A. Spurling, 63, 22418 Main Blvd., Tomball, Texas, 77375, who died in Texas Jan. 4, 1989.

Spurling was born in Decatur County Feb. 12, 1925, the son of Jesse Allen and Norah Belle Clark Spurling. He married Hannah Elizabeth Rusie Oct. 19, 1947, in Indianapolis, and she survives. As a youth he lived in Greensburg and carried the Greensburg Daily News. Later he moved to Indianapolis, and then went to Texas in 1952. He was a mechanic with the Ford dealership in Tomball, Texas. He was a troop leader and active with the Boy Scouts, and was a drill master and worked with young people in the Junior Sheriff Mounted posse of Texas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, David Allen, Michael L. and Terry L. Spurling, all of Tomball, Texas; two sisters, Opal Parson, Fortville, Ind., and Maurita Moore, Indianapolis; two brothers, Cecil Spurling, Cicero, Ind., and Curt Spurling, Greensburg; one grandson and five granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Carl Spurling.

Burial was in the War Veterans Memorial Cemetery, and graveside military rites were conducted by the American Legion. (Jesse Jr enlisted in the Navy and began service on 2 June 1943.)

The family suggests that any memorials go to the Houston Hospice, Houston, Texas.
