Prospect Hill Cemetery: Founded by German immigrants in 1858, Prospect Hill Cemetery is located 22 blocks directly north of the Capitol of the United States. Now in the midst of urban Washington, DC, when founded it was in the countryside outside city limits. The cemetery is the final resting place for more than 14,000 persons.
