Misc. Notes
From Ann Avery Hunter:
Gilbert Jackson Williams' wife, Martha Bowman, was the granddaughter of my
4xgr.grandparents Matthew Turner and Mary Farmer of Chesterfield Co.
Martha's mother, Lydia Frances Turner was the sister of my Povall Turner.
Povall was born in Chesterfield Co. and lived there until he was
middle-aged, when he moved to New Kent Co. One of his sons, Richard Randolph
Turner, was the notorious "Dick" Turner, Keeper of Libby Prison during the
Civil War: This account, written by his son in the 1920s, is understandably
biased. Things written about "Dick" by former prisoners were not so
flattering.
