Obituary
WILLIAMS Emmett W. Williams, 85, went to be with the Lord he loved May 17, 2007, and to be reunited with the little daughter he spoke of so often, Marion Diane Williams. He was a lifelong resident of Chesterfield County and a member of Skinquarter Baptist Church, where he was serving as a deacon at the time of his passing. He had been active since 1955 in the Baptist churches, and served as a deacon, a teacher, and a Sunday school superintendent. He was also a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 10 since 1964. Mr. Williams was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Signal Corps. He landed on D-Day 1 on Omaha Beach and fought all across Europe, receiving five Bronze Stars, an arrowhead, and a meritorious service award. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris O. Williams; three daughters and their husbands, LaVerne and Frank Fanshaw, Gloria and Leonard Lefferts Jr., and Brenda and Tommy Ellis; three sons and their wives, Emmett Jr. "Buddy" and Paulette Williams, David and Becky Williams, and Michael S. Williams; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; his sister and her husband, Dorothy W. and Charles Smith. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bliley's Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Skinquarter Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
