STEWART, Clifton Fleming "Mike," died July 13, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Browning Stewart; a daughter, Elizabeth S. Coleman and her husband, Wayne T. Coleman, of Lynchburg; a grandson, John T. Coleman of Midlothian; and a granddaughter, Christine N. Kirk of Sudbury, Mass.; five great-grandchildren, Robert and Sarah Coleman of Midlothian, Liza, Grady and Keenan Kirk of Sudbury, Mass. He was employed by Exxon for 41 years. When he left for service in the Army Air Force in 1943, he was a Financial Accountant in the Richmond Division Office. Upon his return from the Pacific in 1946, he was transferred to Norfolk by Exxon as Manager of the Norfolk Plant and District Office. He subsequently held a number of sales and management positions. Prior to his retirement in 1974, he was responsible for Exxon International Operations in the ports of Virginia and Eastern Carolina. Over the years, he was active in civic and industry affairs. He was on the Board of Directors of the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Propeller Club of Norfolk, the Hampton Roads Maritime Association and the Virginia Oil Men's Association. For many years, he was Chairman of the American Petroleum Institute in Tidewater, Virginia. He was active in the Sales and Marketing Executives of Tidewater. After retiring in 1974, he and his family moved back to Richmond. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Acca Temple Shrine and River Road Church, Baptist. Graveside services will be private. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Westminster Canterbury.
