Obituary
NEW KENT COURTHOUSE VA..
March 17,-Mr. George M. Pomfrey died at his residence here last night in the sixty-fifth year of his age. Mr. Pomfrey resided in New Kent county up to the time of his death. He served in Company F, of New Kent Calvary, Third Virginia Regiment, from 1861 to 1865, and at the close of the war returned to his home, where he was engaged in farming until several months ago, when he became engaged in the mercantile business with Mr. J. W. Timberlake. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Cynthia Pomfrey, and three children- Mrs. P. S. Pomfrey, of Richmond; Mrs. J. W. Timberlake, of New Kent, and Mrs. C. W. Pomfrey of New Kent, and two sisters- Mrs. G. W. Mountcastle and Mrs. C. W. Wright.
Mr. Pomfrey held for many years an important county office, and always discharged his duties with singular fidelity.
The fineral will take place Wednesday at 11 o’clock at corinth Church, New Kent county.
