Williamsburg- Thomas Calvin Waltrip, 72, died Wednesday, July 18, in Riverside Regional Convalescent Center, Newport News.
A native of James City County, Mr. Waltrip was a lifelong area resident. He retired as an electrician after 40 years of service. Mr. Waltrip was a member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church, where he served as past elder and past deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Hicks Waltrip; two sons, Daniel C. Waltrip and Michael B. Waltrip, both of Williamsburg; two sisters, Virginia Rassmussen of Sandston and Peggy Zuzma of Williamsburg; six brothers, William "Sonny" Waltrip of Quinton, Oklahoma, Mahlon "Johnny" Waltrip of Hampton and Dudley C. Waltrip, Lewis C. Waltrip, Gene K. Waltrip and Mayo W. Waltrip, all of Williamsburg; five grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2p.m. Friday in Jamestown Presbyterian Church by the Reverends John Oldman and Samuel Hart. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetary.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in Umphlett Funeral Home, Newport News.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to James City County Rescue Squad or Jamestown Presbyterian Church building fund.
