Obituary
LANEXA - Nellie Scott Martin, 88, of Lanexa, Va., died on June 4, 2012, in Richmond, Va.
Nellie was born on May 29, 1924, in Albemarle County, Va. She attended Scottsville High School and graduated from there in 1943. Nellie was a housewife and expert seamstress. She enjoyed the flowers that she planted over the years. Of equal importance to her each year was the vegetable garden, especially her tomatoes.
Nellie was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Lanexa, for more than 65 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney N. Martin and her parents, Robert Elmore and Bertha Bryant Scott.
She is survived by a son, Linwood D. Martin, of Richmond, Va.; and a daughter, Delia M. Moorefield, of Lanexa. Other survivors include all of her sisters and brothers, Josephine Oliver, of Mechanicsville, Louise Lawhorn, of Richmond, Kathleen MacLelland, of Mechanicsville, Charles L. Scott, of Scottsville, Everett E. Scott, of Mechanicsville, and Douglas R. Scott, of Richmond. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Wendy Neil, of Hampton, Va., Nathaniel Moorefield, of Lanexa, Amanda Kubovcik, of Williamsburg, Va., Jessica Martin, of Richmond, and Jeffrey Martin, of Jamestown, N.C.; as well as three great-grandchildren, Summer and Cassidy Neil, of Hampton and Hanna Moorefield, of Lanexa.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church Lanexa, Va. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Va.
