BAILEY
Alva C. Bailey, 74, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, December 4, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Garland Bailey; and son Preston Bailey. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Westhampton Memorial Park.

BAILEY, L. Garland, 91, died August 22, 2008 after a brief illness. He was born near Mountcastle, Va., in New Kent County. A World War II veteran, he served with the 655th Field Artillery Battalion and saw action in the Philippines. He was retired from Drug Way/Drug Fair stores. A member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Garland was the widower of Alva C. Bailey and is survived by his son, Preston. The family will receive friends at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., Sunday, from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 9801 Fort King Rd., Richmond, 23229.
