POMFREY Robert Carlisle Pomfrey, 81, of Richmond, departed this life to be with his Saviour after a long illness. Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Evelyn L. Pomfrey; two daughters and sons-in -law, Gloria Joan and William M. Pemberton Jr. of Manakin-Sabot and Roberta K. and O. Kenneth Eanes of Amelia; four grandchildren, Rev. Duane S. Pemberton of Bowling Green, Va. and Mark S. Pemberton of Bedford County, Va., Angela N. Morris of Charlotte Courthouse, Va. and Troy S. Eanes of Amelia, Va.; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Alma Lucille Martin; two nieces; and three nephews. Mr. Pomfrey was a member of Ridge Baptist Church, the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 10 for over 45 years and worked at Robertshaw Controls for 25 years. He also served in the European Theatre in World War II. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Central Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. where services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday. Interment Westhampton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bon Secours Hospice or Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund.

Pomfrey, Evely L.
Evely L. Pomfrey, 81, widow of Robert Carlisle Pomfrey, departed this life to be with her Savior on December 7, 2003. She is survived by two loving daughters and two devoted sons-in-law, Gloria Joan and William M. Pemberton Jr. of Manakin-Sabot, Va. and Roberta K. and O. Kenneth Eanes of Amelia, Va.; four grandchildren, Rev. Duane S. Pemberton, Mark S. Pemberton, Angela N. Morris, and Troy S. Eanes; nine great-grandchildren, two sisters, M. Verneath Teague of Nabersville, Ill. and Esterlene (Penny) Denny of Winston-Salem, N.C. Mrs. Pomfrey provided daycare for 44 years, and was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of Ridge Baptist Church, and she touched the lives of all that knew her. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. where the funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in Westhampton Memorial Park.
