NEWPORT NEWS - Marjorie M. Diacont, 85, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006. She was a native of Lanexa and had been a peninsula resident since 1945. Marjorie was a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church and was formerly involved with the Girl Scouts as a den mother. Survivors include her husband, Clyde T. Diacont; her son, Dale W. Diacont and his wife, Audrey, of Hampton; and three grandchildren, Tyler Diacont, Ian Bennett and Cary Bennett. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Rt. 60, in Lanexa, with the Rev. Thomas J. Doubt officiating. Arrangements by W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
