Obituary
WILLIAMSBURG - Maria B. Schmidt, 83, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 1996, at Sentara Nursing Center, Hampton. She was born in Richmond and had been a lifelong resident of the Peninsula.
She was the daughter of the late Edward L. Ball and the late Ellen Gardener Ball. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tarcisil "Mac" Machado; one grandson, Donald W. Tawney; and one nephew, James E. Ball III.
She is survived by one daughter, Joyce L. Tawney of Williamsburg; a brother, James E. Ball of Newport News; three nieces, Sandra LeCount, Laura Clark and Virginia Baker; four grandnieces and two grandnephews.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all the staff at Sentara Nursing Center, Hampton, for the excellent care and kindness given my mother for the past four years.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, at 10:30 a.m. in the Williamsburg Memorial Park with the Rev. George Plvan of the King of Glory Lutheran Church officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 20, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
