Thomas Hurt Smith Jr. died Monday, August 16, 2004 at Henrico Doctors' Forest Campus. Mr. Smith served his country in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Leona C. Smith; his four sons, Thomas B. Smith, Curtis A. Smith, David B. Smith and Tim P. Smith; one daughter, Diane C. Childress; one daughter-in-law, Christy B. Smith; six grandsons, Wayne Smith, Jonothan Smith, Michael Smith, Michael Childress, Daniel Smith and Samuel Smith; granddaughters, April Childress and soon to be born, Madison Smith; two sisters, Margaret Gentry and Norma Jennings; and one niece, Debra Sue Sadler. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Homes' Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where the family will receive friends Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and where a funeral service will take place Friday, 12 noon. Interment to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond.
