Mr. Hazelwood was the eldest son of Robert L. and America Hazelwood. He was married to Mabel Hazelwood over 50 years and had two children; Robert Meredith Hazelwood(of Toano) and Elizabeth Fowler(of Williamsburg)He grew up and resided on the family farm known as Stage Road Farms. He was a life long member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Obituary
Mabel W. Hazelwood of Toano, who was 100 on September 21, 2000, passed away on January 24, 2001. She was the widow of Robert (Bob) M. Hazelwood Sr. Mrs. Hazelwood is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth H. Fowler and her husband, William (Bill); and a son, R.M. (Sam) Hazelwood Jr. and his wife, Nettie. Also seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hazelwood grew up in James City County and was a lifelong member of Liberty Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Pocahontas Chapter #103, the Toano Women's Club and the Garden Club of Toano. Mrs. Hazelwood was the founder of the Liberty Baptist Church Endowment Fund. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 26, 2001, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. Funeral services will be held at Liberty Baptist Church in Lanexa on Saturday, January 27, 2001, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Liberty Baptist Church Endowment Fund, 15810 Liberty Church Road, Lanexa, Va. 23089 in her memory. Nelsen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
