LANEXA, VA. - John H. Stewart Jr. passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001. Born Jan. 8, 1922, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired in 1992 as owner manager of Nationwide Exterminators. John was preceded in death by two brothers and two sons, Joe Beck and John H. Stewart III and his wife, Kathy, and grandson, John H. Stewart IV. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Virginia Stewart; and three sons, Russell Beck of Newport News, his wife, Patricia, and their two children, Ashley and Melaine, Richard Stewart of Hampton and his wife, Angie, and their three children, Richie, Kelsey and Evan, and Todd Stewart of Crescent City, Fla., and his son, Austin; and the surviving children of John Stewart III, Melissa Stewart of Miami, Fla., and her daughter, Brittany, Christina and Priscilla of Jacksonville, Fla. The funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the chapel of Parkview Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Baptist Church, Youth Department, 604 Hilton Blvd., Newport News, VA 23607.

NEWPORT NEWS - Virginia B. Stewart, 75, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010.
She was a native of Brunswick, Ga., and had been a resident of Newport News for the last 35 years.
Mrs. Stewart retired after 12 years of service from Riverside Regional Medical Center as a communication operator and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother a her smile that could light up the world.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Stewart Jr.; two sons, Joe Beck and John H. Stewart III; and grandson, John H. Stewart IV.
Survivors include three sons, Rusty Beck and wife, Trish, Richard Stewart and wife, Angie and Todd Stewart; sisters, Linda Hunter, Sylvia Smith and Sue Corley; brother, Butch Blocker; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010, at Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. L. Biermann officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the church. Burial will be held on July 3, in Brunswick, Ga.
Memorial donations may be made to Parkview Baptist Church Window Fund.
