LANEXA - Mary C. Hazelwood, 84, a lifelong resident of Lanexa went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 2, 2010.
She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Lanexa for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, John S. Hazelwood; a sister, Ruby C. Pitts; a brother, William A. Cecil; and her beloved feline, "Momma Cat."
Mary is survived by two daughters, Claudia H. Birkholz and her husband, Carl, Susan H. Leonituk and her husband, Ronald; and her son, Allen Hazelwood and Frances. She is also survived by four sisters, Myrtle C. Sweeney, Bessie Hazelwood, Ola Mae Richardson and Emma C. Briggs; three grandchildren, John Joshua Hazelwood, Amy Michelle Leonituk and Christopher Ryan Leonituk; as well as many friends; and her feline friend, Sam.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Liberty Baptist Church, Lanexa, Va.
