CROAKER - Ola May Richardson (Nanny), went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, Monday, March 28, 2011. Ola was born May 12, 1921, in High Point, N.C.
Nanny, to all who knew and loved her, passed away after a short illness at Sentara Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George (Shing) Richardson; a son, Ernest Richardson; her parents, William and Stella Walls Cecil; a brother, William Cecil; sisters, Ruby Pitts, Mary C. Hazelwood and Emma Briggs.
Ola is survived by two daughters, Iva Richardson, Mildred Hite (La Rue); a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Richardson; two very special friends, Betty Langston and Nona Kirby. She is known as Nanny to six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Ola was a faithful member of York River Baptist Church where she attended and supported with her Christian love until her health no longer permitted her to attend. She taught Sunday school at Colonial Baptist Church for many years. Ola retired from Pantry Pride Grocery in 1985.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, at York River Baptist Church, 8201 Croaker Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. Burial will follow in the Richardson family cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at Vincent Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140.
