Obituary
REVERE, Zelma Mae Timberlake, of Richmond, died Monday, September 23, 2013, at Sunrise of Richmond. She was born on July 1, 1915 at Sweet Hall, Va. She was the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Martin Timberlake and Warren Sherman Timberlake of King William County. Mrs. Revere had three brothers and enjoyed an especially close and loving relationship with Marion Timberlake Yobs, her younger sister and her best friend throughout her life. In 1938, Mrs. Revere graduated from Mary Washington College with a B.S. in elementary education and a minor in music. She taught school in four Virginia schools from 1936 until 1955. She married Edward L. "Paul" Revere in 1951. They were blessed with one son in 1955. They were married for 49 years until Mr. Revere's death at age 90 in 2000. Mrs. Revere became a member of Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church in 1955 and served in many capacities including teacher, musician and deacon. She was honored as a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Women of Tuckahoe in 1993. She was an avid pianist and continued playing the piano well into her 90s. Mrs. Revere loved gardening and was an active member of the Westbury and Pinedale Garden Clubs. She was bestowed with an honorary life membership in the Richmond Council of Garden Clubs in 1971. Mrs. Revere also had a passion for travel, which even overcame her fear of flying. She and her husband enjoyed touring nearly all of the 50 states, Canada, the Caribbean and Europe. Mrs. Revere was a longstanding member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Revere is survived by her only child, Edward T. "Tim" Revere and his wife, Dee Ann Revere. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bliley's Funeral Home, 3801 Augusta Ave. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 4, at 1 p.m. at Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church with Pastor Patrick Dennis presiding. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn. Flowers are welcome, or contributions may be made to Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church, 7000 Park Ave., Richmond, Va. 23226.
