Obituary
CARTER, H. Wayne, 67, of West Point, passed away on January 13, 2012. He was born in Lebanon, Virginia to the late Milton and Alice Carter. Wayne was an Air Force Vietnam veteran and a member of Melvin Rosson VFW Post 8356 serving as a past quartermaster. He worked at Chesapeake Corporation for ten years and retired from Nabisco Brands in 2001 after 25 years served in maintenance. Wayne loved his country, his family and the great outdoors. Hobbies included hunting, fishing, archery, building and driving race cars, woodworking and attending any of his grandchildren's sporting or school activities. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Louise V. Carter; two children and their spouses, son, Steve (Andrea) Carter, daughter, Teresa (Robert) Lathan; four grandchildren, Carrie and Caleb Carter and Amelia and Charlotte Lathan; a brother, E. Leon Carter, all of West Point; and a sister, Marie Taylor, of Richmond. The family wishes to thank Sentara Hospital, Williamsburg, for the care given in the weeks before his death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 16, at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point. Burial will follow in St. Theresa Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
