HICKS, John T. Jr., 84, of Richmond, went to the Lord peacefully on March 2, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Bessie Parrish Hicks; and sister, Jacquetta Burton. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years Brenda Miller Hicks; his sons, Tommy and Chris Hicks; a daughter, Bonnie and her husband, Mark Eckard; three grandsons, Skye, Duane and Marcos Eckard; and his great-grandchildren, Isaac, Isabel and Aiyanna, Kiley, Christian and Kitson. He is also survived by his loving and devoted sister-in-law, Charlotte Johnson and her husband, Tommy; "Favorite" and cherished niece, Suzanne Townsend and husband, Floyd; beloved nephew, Duane Burton and his wife, Carol. He served during WWII in the United States Navy. He was an officer in the city of Richmond Police Department for 18 years, Vice President of bank security for Suntrust Bank for 20 years, he drove a school bus for Henrico County for 10 years and worked part time for DMV until age 82. He was active in civic, law enforcement, charitable and dance groups. He was a member of Westhampton Lodge #302, The Arab Patrol Unit of the ACCA Shrine, American Legion Post 244 and Manchester Moose Lodge #699. He was an avid dancer of many styles and belonged to various clubs including the Country Style Dancers of Va., Candlelight Club, Twenty Cotillion, and USA Ballroom. He was blessed with many loving and caring friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, March 8 at 2 p.m. in Riverview Cemetery.
