Obituary
Bessie V. Apperson, age 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at home. She was a native of James City and a lifelong resident of the county.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Apperson; and her brother, Arthur A. Martin.
She is survived by her three sons, William L. Apperson (Mary), Charles E. Apperson (Pat) and Richard E. Apperson (Donna); seven grandchildren, Christine E. Apperson (Freddie), William G. Apperson (Cherie), C. Michael Apperson, Melissa A. Ayers (Rob), Ronald P. Apperson, Allison J. Apperson and Thomas B. Apperson; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua E. Apperson, Charlotte L. Apperson and William J. Apperson.
A special thank you to Christine, Freddie and Marlon for their continued loving care and nursing to Bessie.
The family will receive friends at Olive Branch Christian Church beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb.16. A celebration of Bessie's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Bessie's memory, to the James City Bruton Volunteer Fire Department, 3135 Forge Rd., Toano VA 23168.
