Mentioned in Father's will of 1754 Chesterfield Co. Married about 1756 to Sarah____ and moved west to Bedford Co. See patents 27 July 1764, he bought 576 acres on the ridge between Ivy & Tohawk Creeks, bordering Hardwicks and Dawons land. It cost him 38 shillings and the importation of michael & Susanna Poor, John Roy and James Orchard. Among the tax payers of Henry Co in 1782 wars Isham Sr. Isham Jr and another Isham.

Feb. 18 1782, William Mead, Attorney for Nicholas Haile, sold to Isham about 580 acres in Henry Co with wit; James Dillon, Esham and Elijah Blankenship,. In 1785 Franklin Co was fromed from Bedford, Henry, Patrick Counties. the 1786 tax payers list contained the names; Isham Jr & Sr., Elisha, Hezekiah,Ligon, Peter, & Richard Balnkenship. Isham was declared except from levies in1797. In Franklin Co, Va 1799 Isham & Sarah gave their land to their children or sold it and moved to Rutherford Co. NC where they showed up in the 1800 census. Apparently he and Sarah both died before 1810 with no wills or estate settlements.

Franklin County, Virginia 1786-1986, A Bicentennial History by John S. & Emily J. Salmon, 1993, indicates the following on page 222: "The wording of indictments in assault cases often was more dramatic than the actual event. In November 1786, for example, Samuel Dillion charged that BARNET, ELIJAH, ELISHA, HEZEKIAH, ISHAM (JR.), ISHAM (SR.), JOHN and WILLIAM BLANKENSHIP, with "Swords, Clubs,
Fists upon the said plaintiff...an assault did make and him did beat wound and ill treat so that of his life it was greatly despaired."

The Commonwealth of Virginia To the Sheriff of Franklin County Greeting. We comman you that you take ISHAM BLANKENSHIP, ELIJAH BLANKENSHIP and ELISHA BLANKENSHIP if they be found within your bailiwick and them safely keep so that you have the bodies before the Justices of our said County Court at the Courthouse of the said County on the first day of the next Court of Quarterly Sessions to answer Samuel Dillion of a Plea of Trespass Assault & Battery. Damage One Hundred Pounds. And have them there this Writ Witness Stephen Smith,Clerk of our said County Court at the Courthouse the fourth day of October 1786. In the XI year of the Common Wealth.
