SILVERSMITHS OF VIRGINIA by George Barton Cutter says this: "JACOB FLOURNOY (1663- ) was a member of a distinguished Huguenot family and was born in Geneva, Switzerland, January 5, 1663, the son of Jacque Flournoy and Judith Puerary. The Flournoys were a family of watchmakers, lapidaries, goldsmiths, and jewelers, and Jacob followed the paternal tradition. In 1700 he came to Virginia and established himself near Williamsburg. Here, on December 9, 1703, he married his third wife, Magdelene Prodhom, widow of Moise Verreuil; she was a Hollander and a Huguenot. On March 29, 1703 he entered 133 acres of land in Henrico County. He was mentioned as a goldsmith when he deeded Williamsburg property to Susanna Allen January 31, 1712, and on February 16, 1712 Magdelene Flournoy, wife of Jacob Flournoy, executed a bond. In a list of tithables of King William's Parish for 1720, Aut [Anthony?] Rapine, Daniel Perrault, and Jacob Flournoy were each charged with three tithables and assessed six bushels of wheat" (91).
