Va State Archives Confederate records, Vol 20, p. 108 show S. D. Turner, adjutant in the 69th Va Regiment of Militia, commanded by Colonel A. H. Farmer. Served six weeks.

Chesterfield Co. Chancery notes - 1891 - 003 Samuel D. Turner. His father Povall Turner of New Kent died intestate in Jany 1863 leaving wife Lucinda and children, viz: Ann C. who married W. A. Pearman; Louisa;Charles Beverly; Samuel D.; Maria E. who married Richard Pilkinton who is now dec'd.; Martha J. who married W. H. Baker; R. R. ; Thomas G.; George W. Lucy the widow died 13 July 1876 intestate. Her oldest daughter Ann C. died intestate in 1873 leaving husband W. A. Pearman and children: Mary C. and Landie. Mary C. married W. H. Tatum and died intestate 5 Nov 1878 leaving husband and infant daughter annie Tatum now underage of 14 years. Landie died unmarried on 9 Sept. 1880 having made a will in Charles City leaving all to annie tatum daughter of her deceased sister Mary C. Tatum. Youngest son George W. Turner died unmarried and intestate 1875. Povall Turner at death owned land in Chesterfield Co. known as "Clays", 256 acres. Samuel wants land sold and the money divided. 10 May 1887 The land was finally sold to Truman S. Parker 21 July 1887 for $3,000.00.

Turner vs Turner 1902-031 CC Samuel D. Turner, Jr. executor of Samuel D. Turner, Sr. desc'd. His father died 11 Dec 1901 leaving a will. Heirs: (dau) Sallie C. Allen (widow) (DIL) Mary I. Turner (widow) son Stuart McGuire Turner - 9 years old (son) Samuel D. Turner, Jr. - wife is Ida M. (dau) Mattie E. Habliston (widow) (dau) Mary C. Phaup wife of L. J. (dau) Nannie L. Carter wife of L. F. (dau) Miss Lillie M. Turner (gson) Oscar Allen - about 17 years old Sr. left substanial sums of money to each heir. The estate hd no debts except dr's bills and funeral expenses, but the personal estate was not large enough to pay the heirs the amounts given in the will. Sr. had three properties that Jr. wanted to sell: (1)Lot in Highland Springs Addition on Cedar Ave. and Vine Street, being lots 2 and 4 in Block C, Section 2 conveyed to Sr. by Frank P. Read and wife on 26 Sept 1900 - Deed Book 160 A, page 85. (2) Lots 1, 3, 5, and 6 in Block C, Sec. 2 of Highland Springs Addition conveyed by the same above, Deed Book 160 B, page 90 (3) Lot in City of Richmond on South East corner of Marshall and 29th St. containing some tenements, conveyed by W. J. Westward and wife 9 Aarpil 1900 - Deed Book 167 A, page 484 This was filed 8 Feb. 1902 Mr. J. R. V. Daniel was appointed to examine the estate and depose each heir. He obtained a waiver from all the heirs so the land could be sold and also determined that S. D. Turner, Jr. was the guardian of Oscar Allen, infant. Daniel settled the accounts of the dec'd which showed that Jr. did it all properly. 31 Feb 1902 18 April 1902: S. D. Turner Jr. gave bond as guardian of Oscar Allen child of William E. Allen dec'd and Sallie C. Allen and over 14 years of age. 27 March 1902: Mrs. Sallie C. Allen and Mrs. Martha E. Habliston took the property on E. Marshall St. as their share - Lot #2901 Mrs. Mary I. Turner and Stuart McGuire Turner her son took 2/5 interest each and Samuel D. Turner Jr. 1;5 interest in the house and lot #2903 E. Marshall as their share. Miss Lillie M. Turner took lot #2905 East Marshall Mrs. Sallie C. Allen got 2/10 interest and Mrs. Martha E. Habliston 2/10 interest, Samuel D. Turner, Jr. 3/10 interest, and Lillie 3/10 interest in lots of land in Highland Springs Addition. Oscar got $200.
