CARTER, John Robert Jr., 76, of Goochland, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, April 15, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Parrish Carter; and son, John William "J.W." Carter; and parents, John R. Carter Sr. and Helen Ransone Carter of Sandy Hook. He is survived by his daughter, Jewell Carter Jones (George); his beloved granddaughter, Mackenzie Carter; one brother, Franklin R. "Frankie" Carter (Carole); a very dear cousin, John D. Hollins and his wife, Jimmie Lee Hollins; aunt, Hazel R. Parrish; and close friends, Bo Coleman, Tommy Fairburn and Bern Crowl; and a special cousin, Geralyn Koeberlein. John Jr. was active in Manakin Company One Fire and Rescue Department for many years, a member of DeWitte Clinton Lodge #141 AM and FM and a loyal employee of 43 years of Alcatraz Coatings. He will be remembered for his honesty, integrity and his love for his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home, Goochland, Va. Wednesday, April 17. Funeral services 2 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at Dover Baptist Church, Manakin, Va. Interment at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dover Baptist Church.
