Maybe?WHITLOW, Emma "Ruth," was called to her Heavenly home from earthly home at Magnolias of Chesterfield the evening of March 29, 2016. She was born in Coweta, Okla., on April 13, 1920. She is survived by her daughter, Janet S. Markin (Ronald) of Chester; two sons, Vernon M. "Mike" Schaffer of Brady, Texas and Marvin F. Schaffer (Molly) of Midlothian; two stepdaughters, Eugenia "Genie" W. Clark (Raymond) of Raleigh, N.C., and Linda W. Evans (Edward) of Dacula, Ga. She has four younger sisters, Helen L. Walker and Thelma "Jean" Olandese of Oklahoma, Wilma M. Roth of Tennessee and Betty L. Liles of Texas. She has five grandchildren, Angela R. Meccia (Christopher) of Ashland, Brandon T. Markin of Rustburg, Lisa R. McNulty (Kelly) of Chesterfield, Courtney M. Schaffer of Richmond, Stephanie R. Schaffer of North Dinwiddie; and three great-grandchildren, Madeline R. Meccia of Ashland, Kaley A. McNulty of Chesterfield and Colsen C. Schaffer-Moore of North Dinwiddie. She was predeceased by her first husband of 10 months, Harold H. Kolding (a member of the Army Air Forces), who died in service to his country in 1945; her second husband and father of her children, Harry V. Schaffer Jr.; and her third husband, Frederick Eugene "Gene" Whitlow. She lived a life of faith in God with a strong focus on family, church and friends. Many knew her by her caring and generous ways of life. Her decision was to donate her body to science. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 3801 Beulah Rd., Richmond, Va. 23237. A donation to Oak Grove Baptist Church's Special Fund in memory of Ruth Whitlow is requested, in lieu of flowers.
