Hattie Timberlake Southall, 94, passed away of natural causes on April 4, 2014 in Mattaponi, VA. She was a native of Plum Point and had lived 46 years in Hampton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Southall.
Hattie is survived by two daughters Lucy S. Propst (John) of Williamsburg and Mary Frances Southall Waller of Newport News. She is also survived by four grandchildren Laura Ogle (Todd), Steven Propst (Erin), Nancy Rilee (Steve) and Adam Waller (Alisha); five great-grandchildren and 32 nieces and nephews.
Hattie had been a member of American Business Women's Association and of Calvary Baptist Church. She retired as an executive secretary of the Daily Press in 1983.
A funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Monday, April 7th in Calvary Baptist Church, 4700 Huntington Avenue, Newport News, VA. Reverend Dr. Paul Lawson will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to Noon Monday before the service at the church. Interment will follow after the service in Sunny Slope Cemetery, West Point, VA. Vincent Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
