Steven Franklin Parr passed away on February 28th at his home in Columbia, MD. He was 51 years old and had been battling cancer for the past three years. Steve was a 1986 graduate of Virginia Tech University and was a lifelong Hokie supporter. He settled in Columbia Maryland after graduation and began his career in the technology world at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. He worked for many years at APL before deciding to help some of the young start up technology companies in the area and eventually settled at Lotame Solutions located in Columbia. Steve grew up on a farm in Queenstown Maryland and never lost his love of animals. He was the proud papa to many pets over the years but is survived by just one, his 13 year companion "Midnight." Steve was the son of Anne S. Parr and Bertram L. Parr and is survived by his brothers Bob Parr of Rockville, MD, David Parr of Austin Texas, Michael Parr of Austin Texas, and Larry Parr of Houston Texas; his 5 nephews Michael, Brock, Cole, Brandon , and Dylan and his 3 nieces Erin, Kristin, and Courtney. Services will be held at: Wye of Carmichael UMC, 1036 Carmichael Rd, Queenstown, MD 21658 at 3:00 pm on Thursday March 6,2014. For those that can't attend there will be a gathering for family and friends from 5:00 – 7:00 on Wednesday March 5,2014 at John M. Taylor Funeral Home in Annapolis, 147 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, MD 21404 In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to: Wye of Carmichael UMC, P.O.
