Helen House Croushorn, age 93, of Nokesville, VA passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at her home. She was born on April 23, 1928 in Nokesville, VA the daughter of the late John N. House and Mattie M. House.
Helen felt a call to nursing at a young age after watching a nurse care for her father during a hospital visit. She went on to study at Richmond College and at the Sibley Hospital Program. She began her first nursing job as a surgical nurse before moving to the Manassas Medical Center (now Bull Run Family Practice), where she worked for more than 30 years before retiring.
Helen played guard on the Richmond College basketball team. She always strived for a high standard, whether it was basketball, nursing, or parenting. After nursing school, Helen married Kenneth Croushorn, and they started their family in Nokesville VA. Helen was an extremely hardworking mother at a time when most women did not work outside the home. She loved each of her children dearly and strongly supported each of them in their endeavors in high school sports, education and careers.
Helen sought to help others along their faith journeys and ministered as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and Bible study leader at the Nokesville Church of the Brethren. In her later years, Helen enjoyed watching Virginia Tech sports and visiting with friends and family. She is missed dearly, deeply loved, and fondly remembered.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth James Croushorn and a daughter, Wanda Ann Beahm.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Michael Croushorn and wife Marsha of Franklin, TN, James Clinton Croushorn and wife Lorraine of Midland, VA, Ronald Lee Croushorn and wife Irene of Nokesville, VA; one sister, Marie Watson of Midlothian, VA.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-3:00PM Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Greenwich Presbyterian Church, 15305 Vint Hill Road
Nokesville, VA. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the Greenwich Presbyterian Church with Austin House officiating. The services will be held outside. Some chairs will be provided but guests are welcome to bring their own. Interment will follow at 12:00PM on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Stonewall Memory Gardens.
