She was the only daughter of John Henry and Mary J. (Olleman) Rusie, who had three children. At the time of her death, she was survived by both parents and both brothers, James H. and Frederick Rusie.

Her obituary from the Martinsville Republican, October 1, 1896:

Miss Media, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Rusie, died at 10 o'clock Tuesday night, of softening of the brain. The funeral services were held at the residence yesterday afternoon. Rev. W. T. Davis conducted the services. Burial at the Mooresville Cemetery.

Note: Her nickname is recorded in places as Media, but since her stone is written as Meda, I posted that. Also, her first name is recorded as Alameda, Alamedia and Arameda. I'm not sure which is correct, but the Mooresville Library has it recorded as Alameda and indicated it was written as Alamedia in the Elam Harvey Diary which was recorded at the time of her death.

Note: Mooresville Library indicates that her stone is in error and that she was actually born in 1858. Her parents were married September 4, 1857.
