Married Margaret Magdaline Pickett at St.John's Church on January 4,1848.
One of the most successful and substantial business men of Virginia, is the son of the late Sylvauus Stokes, of Caswell county.
Moved to Danville,Virginia where he became a dry goods merchant.Moved to Richmond in 1845,helped organize the Richmond and Danville Railroad.A long time member of St.John's Episcopal Church.
A director of two railroads,died at his son's farm. 34
