Obituary
Russell Holmes Polen, age 82, of Manassas, Virginia died on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Prince William Hospital.
He worked for the Postal Service for over 40 years and retired as Post Master of Manassas. He was a member of Evergreen Country Club and loved playing golf and was an avid gardener.
He was the son of the late John Morris Polen and Virginia May Hoffman and was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Fanelle C. Polen; his daughter, Christie A. Polen-Bonitz ; his granddaughter Cathryn Polen Bonitz; his brothers, Warren and Curtis Polen; his nephew Pete Polen, other nieces and nephews and by two close family friends, Martha Garman and Vernon Whritenour.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Tommy Herndon officiating. Interment at Stonewall Memory Gardens.
