Born in Ireland in 1745 (or '47) and died on April 3, 1830 in his 84thyear. Both he and his wife Hanah are buried in the old graveyard. Jonathan came to America in 1785 with his brother Samuel and a sister,and settled in that portion of Washington County that is now RobinsonTownship of Allegheny County. Samuel the brother, served in theRevolutionary War, as a private in the Stockley Rangers. JonathanPhillips was one of the first three Ruling Elders of his church, andserved until his death.6
