Obituary
William Roland Tayman passed over at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.

Born to the late Nora Teresa Lawson Tayman and Paul Douglas Tayman. Roland, as he was known as by family and friends served his Country during World War II in the U. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the 425th Night Fighter Squadron and served in campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon and the Distinguished Unit Badge. He was Honorably Discharged in 1945 as a Corporal.

He owned and operated several service station and was operating the Branch Avenue Mobil when he retired in May of 1988. He received an award for being the Oldest Continuing Mobil Dealer. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Clinton and the Moose Lodge in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Roland loved working outdoors on his yard, flower gardens and vegetable gardens. He enjoyed reading the newspaper and watching horse racing. He was especially fond of his dogs Flip, Blackie and Spot. Mr. Tayman was of the Episcopal faith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Paul Douglas Tayman, Jr.

He is survived by his beloved wife Ellen L. Tayman; children Harold Lynn Tayman and his wife Pat Tayman of Littleton, NC, JoAnn T. Lashley and her husband Doug Lashley of Reston, Virginia, Sue Ellen Tillett and her husband Kenny Tillett of Mechanicsville, MD; sisters Louise Epperson, Doris Hill and Bernice Hill; grandchildren Allen Lynn Tayman, Richard Tayman, Mandy Tayman and Timothy Tillett, Sr. great grandchildren Timothy Tillett Jr., Kendall Tayman and Connor Tayman.

Family to receive friends on at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, Charlotte Hall, Maryland where Funeral Services will be held with the Reverend Bob Trefery to officiate. Interment to follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham, Maryland.
