Janet Pauline Taylor Cox
79, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014. Born on May 9, 1935 in Mooresville, Indiana, she was the 6th child of Ray and Norma Taylor. Her family moved to Indianapolis when she was three. After graduating from Broad Ripple High School, she attended Ball State Teachers College. In 1956, she married the love of her life, Maynard Cox. She was a devoted wife and mother and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Knowing that prayer and studying God's Word was important, she and Maynard spent many years attending Hope Christian Missionary Alliance Church and Union Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a substitute teacher and later, when her children were grown, she worked at Isley Plumbing for nearly 20 years.
Janet is survived by Maynard Cox, her husband of 58 years; her daughter, Connie Meyer (Ralph) and son, Joseph Cox (Dana); grandchildren, Sarah Meyer, Karen (Meyer) Halm, Jonathan Meyer, Alyssa Cox and Adam Cox; great-grandchildren, Hudson and Logan Halm. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Taylor and sisters, Joan Weinland and Jean Buck. Her brother, Charles Taylor and sister, Josephine Dougherty, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, December 23, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of life service at 3:00 p.m. Visitation and service will be held at Union Chapel United Methodist Church at 2720 East 86th Street, Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janet's memory can be made to Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) or Camp Indy (ministry of Horizon Christian Fellowship Church).
