Daniel L. "Dan the Man" Love

Marion – Daniel L. Love, 62, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 in Marion General Hospital. He was born in Marion, Indiana on April 10, 1951 to Dee Wayne and Ruth B. (King) Love. Dan was a 1969 graduate of Marion High School and attended Midwestern Baptist College in Pontiac, Michigan and the Methodist Theological School in Ohio of Columbus, Ohio. He married Shirley Meade on June 25, 1971 and she survives. Dan was a retired minister with the United Methodist Church and served the Rigdon United Methodist and Morris Chapel United Methodist Churches. He also drove a school bus for Marion Community Schools for 27 years and was known by the children on his route as "Dan Dan the Bus Drivin' Man". He formerly worked at the Farm Bureau Coop in Van Buren. He was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Shirley Love, Marion; children, Amie L. Love, Thomas J. Love, and Lisa A. Love, all of Marion; mother, Ruth B. Love, Marion; brother, Michael D. (Connie) Love, Van Buren; 12 nieces and nephews and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews; sister-in-law, Martha Bright, Marion; and brother-in-law, Paul Porter, Olive Hill, KY.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Love; sister, Kathryn Porter; niece, Tammy Miller; great-nephew, Michael A. Miller, Jr.; and parents-in-law, Richard and Audrie Meade.

Visitation will be from 2-6 pm on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, Indiana.

Funeral Service will be at 11 am on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, 2015 North 300 West, Marion, Indiana with Reverend Mark Hill officiating. Burial will be in Howe Cemetery, Marion.35
