Merle D. "Chick" Dailey, age 80, of Marion, IN, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Marion General Hospital in Marion,
IN.
Chick was the son of the late Harley "Bud" Dailey and the late Minnie (Oden) Dailey born on July 7, 1928 in Marion,
Indiana He attended 11 years at Point Isabel and Swayzee Schools and graduated from Lewisville High School in
1946. He married Mary Margaret Shatto-Sheedy. She preceded him in death on April 22, 1994.
Chick retired in 1986 from General Motors in Marion after 30 years in Salvage Repair. He spent 13 years as a
conductor on the Whitewater Valley Railroad. He loved the rail road and continued his interest as a lifetime
member of the White River Valley Historical Society and train collecting.
He was an avid sports fan especially when it came to baseball triva. He loved the Cubs, Pacers and the Colts. He
most recently enjoyed listening to the Oak Hill girls basketball games.
He was a member of the Point Isabel United Methodist Church, UAW Local 977, CPC Sympathy Club, Alexandria
WP Group, and a frequent visitor and fan of Jackies Restaurant in Gas City. He also enjoyed collecting antique
tractors.
Chick is survived by

Brother, Gene (Sarah) Dailey, Swayzee, Indiana
Several nieces and nephews and many special friends including his Maltese dog, Cookie.
He was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Dailey and and brother Max Dailey.
