Fay was the daughter and only child of Arthur and Martha Windleborn.

She married Dr. Donald K. Shanafelt while still living in Illinois and moved shortly afterward to Indianapolis. Before marrying Don, she worked as a model.

She was the mother of one son, David Arthur Shanafelt, my husband. Sadly, I didn't get to meet this lovely woman. Though I believe I know her from the stories Dave has told me for the last few years. Fay loved to garden, and the pictures I've seen of her backyard in Indianapolis is a testament to this. She also loved to shop.

She was the grandmother of Leslie Marie Shanafelt and Michael David Shanafelt. They were her heart.

She died at the young age of 62 of cancer.35
