Walter H. "Curly" Boyd 79, of Plainfield, passed away April 3,2005. He was born May 16,1925 to Willie and Wilma (Estle) Boyd in Elwood, IN. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. He was a graduate from Elwood High School and Indiana Business College. He worked as an agent for 15 years for the IRS and later for 15 years for the Social Security Adm. retiring in 1991. Curly raced from 1950-1967. He started with Tom Cherry's Roaring Roadsters in Muncie and went on to race midgets, sprints and champ cars with IMCA and CSRA. He was a member of the 500 Old Timers Club, the Plainfield Masonic Lodge #653 and square danced with Flag Town Steppers for 12 years. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Boyd; a son, Tim Boyd; and a grandson, Shawn Boyd. There will be a visitation only at Hampton - Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, IN, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday March 6, 2005. Burial will be on Friday, April 8 at Cook Cemetery near Elwood, IN. - See more at:
