Obituary:

Marian Esther, the little daughter of Arthur and Effie Rusie, was born September 25, 1896.

On January 15, 1899, she fell safely in the arms of Jesus, with the flowers of Eden around her, leaning on the Savior's breast, aged 2 years, 3 months and 21 days. She was taken on Saturday morning with membranous croup, and amid extreme physical suffering not a murmur escaped her lips, manifesting the same sweet disposition which characterized her life and made her loved by all. This little bud, so pure, so full of love, was plucked in the sunrise of morning and transplanted, a bright angel in Paradise. How brief did seem the life of this precious jewel, how hard to give her back, but God in His infinite love saw best to add her to the lambs of His fold. One joy alone it gives us now, we know she is clad in spotless white, singing in the psalms of glory. Words fail to express our sorrow when her baby smiles we see no more, nor hear the innocent prattle from lips so silent now, but she has answered the Savior's call, "let the little ones come unto me," and is now waiting at the portals, ready there to reunite us and set the beautiful gates ajar.
As falls the petals from the flower,
As fades the brilliant shining,
So falls our darling from our power,
To death's cold arms entwining.
None else but God knows how our heart,
With sorrow plunges under
The wave that took our twain apart
And wrecks our joys asunder.
