"THE LATE B.F. PRICE - King George Co., Va., Aug. 30.
In the death of Mr. B F Price, (familiarly known as "Dandy" Price) King George county has lost one of its oldest inhabitants and purest and best men. Three years ago last February, Mr. Price suffered a partial stroke of paralysis at his home near Ambar, from which he never fully recovered, growing more and more infirm until the end came on morning of the 23rd, in his 74th year, at his residence near King George, in the presence of his faithful and devoted wife, who was constantly at his bedside during his long illness and several of his children. Mr. Price was twice married, his first wife [Fredonia] being a daughter of Rev. Jos. A. Billingsley, who died a few years after their marriage, leaving a son and daughter, Mr. B.F. Price, Jr., and Mrs. Jeter Gray. His second wife was a Miss [Lillie L.] Jones who with nine children, one daughter and eight sons, survive him. Mr. Price was one of the few remaining ex-Confederate comrades, joining the army in his 18th year and serving throughout the civil war being twice wounded. For many years he was a devout and ardent Baptist and a faithful member and honored deacon of the Hanover Baptist church. Being of a quiet, humble and genial disposition he was honored and loved by all who knew him and bore his losses and sufferings with stoical patience and in a spirit of cheerful, trustful resignation to the will of his Heavenly Father. Twice Mr. and Mrs. Price had the misfortune to lose their home near Ambar by fire, the last time about four years ago, when all their household goods, furniture and effects were destroyed. The funeral services of this honored servant of the Lord was conducted by Rev. A.W. Graves, assisted by Rev. W.W. Owens at the home near King George on Wednesday, the 25th, and his body laid to rest in the cemetery of the Hanover Baptist church near Edge Hill, of which he had long been a faithful member and beloved deacon. His bereaved widow and children have the sympathy of all who know them. Life's labor done, as sinks the clay, Light from its load the spirit flies, While heaven and earth combine to say, "How blest the righteous when he dies."
