MEDIAPOLIS, Iowa - Virginia Muir, 98, a 50 year resident of Muscatine, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at the Prairie Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center, Mediapolis.
Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth, Illinois. Reverend Jerry Foote of Mulford Evangelical Free Church will officiate the service.
Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Mulford Evangelical Free Church.
Virginia was born on July 27, 1913, in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Martha Rasmussen Hazen. She married Andrew Coy Muir on June 10, 1956, in Monmouth, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1967.
She was a gifted musician and taught piano for 40 years. She enjoyed her work very much and loved knowing that some of her students eventually would teach music in schools and also work in Music Therapy. She had been a pianist and vocalist with orchestras in her younger years and traveled in many states performing.
She had been a member of the American Federation of Musicians for years. She was also a member of Mulford Evangelical Free Church where she had served as pianist and sang in the church choir.
She loved her Lord and her family. She enjoyed the Hawkeyes, baseball, and especially the Chicago Cubs.
Those left to honor her memory include one daughter, Diana Wolf and husband, Lloyd, of Wever, Iowa; three grandchildren, Laura Zippe, Don Wolf, and Lee Wolf and wife, Cindy; and three great-grandchildren, Kylie Wolf, and Rachel and Emily Wolf.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Larry Hazen; and one sister Nell Rogers.
