Married Gene Cooper in Peru, Indiana on January 9, 1943.
She was a 1934 graduate of Monrovia High School and a 1938 graduate of Indiana State Teachers College, Terre Haute. She taught English and Home Economics at Linlawn, Deedsville, Mexico, Somerset, Northfield, and Southwood High Schools.
She was raised in the Quaker Church and was a member of the Richvalley United Methodist Church, where she taught adult Sunday School several years and belonged to the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of P.E.O. and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. She was a 4-H leader and a Red Cross volunteer.
