Alice Sheets, 83, Carrington, N.D., died Monday, March 1, 2010, at her home after a short battle with cancer.

Alice Mae Reimers was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Melville, N.D., the daughter of Fernando and Alice (Walters) Reimers. She grew up in Bordulac, N.D., and graduated from Carrington High School in 1944. She attended North Dakota State University, Fargo, for two years and then transferred to Jamestown College, Jamestown, graduating with a degree in education. She married Jack Sheets on Dec. 26, 1950, in Bagley, Minn. They farmed in the Melville area until they moved to Carrington in 1965, where she taught school for 25 years.

She enjoyed entertaining, gardening, playing bridge, flowers, being at the lake and her dog, Duke.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary (Tom) Carr, Carrington, and Connie Kehl, Spiritwood Lake, N.D.; a sister, Pat Saunders, Bird Island, Minn.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son-in-law, Perry Kehl; three brothers, Steve, Robert and Bill; and a granddaughter.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Federated Church UCC/UMC, Carrington, with the Rev. Susan Fandrich officiating.
Burial: Carrington Cemetery, Carrington.
