TAYLOR Clifton Stewart Taylor, age 69, of Lanexa, Va. passed away March 6, 2007. Following a successful 32 year career at the BASF Corporation, Clifton retired to pursue his true passion, farming. He grew the traditional crops along with one of the largest, best known vegetable gardens in the area. His corn, tomatoes and sweet potatoes are known by many to be the most delicious in Tidewater, Virginia. Clifton was a lifetime member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, W. Ray Taylor. Clifton is survived by his wife of 16 years, Ethel Taylor; one son, Timothy Taylor and his wife, Julie of Richmond; two daughters, Tina McAlpin and her husband, Drew of New Kent, and Lisa Saul and her husband, Scott of Titusville, N.J.; one stepson, Ryland Hazelwood Jr. and his wife, Anita of Lanexa; as well as six grandchildren, Clay, Jackson, Henry, John, Annie and Andrew. He is also survived by two sisters, Barbara McKown and her husband, Richard, Beverly Hall and her husband, Jimmy; one brother, William V. Taylor and his wife, Jean; former wife and mother of his three children, Phyllis G. Taylor; as well as a sister-in-law, Judith Taylor. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church, with a burial immediately following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at the Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge. Memorials can be made to the James City County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, 3135 Forge Rd., Toano, Va. 23168.
